With clear line of sight and correct planning it can be. We check the path, choose the right band and equipment, and test throughput on site before handover.
We select outdoor-rated equipment, secure mounting and allow link margin in the design so the connection stays up in harsh weather.
We can add monitoring and alerts, and where uptime matters design a backup link or failover path.
Typically up to 10–15 km with 5 GHz and the right antennas, given clear line of sight and enough mounting height.
5 GHz is barely affected. 60 GHz can fade in heavy rain, which is why we add a 5 GHz backup for critical links.
